Construction Journal - Crane Repairs

Linkbelt rought terrain crane 22 ton

Our crane is needing some repairs. We have had a few 'down' days this week as we await James who knows how to repair this type of equipment.

James who works for Big D Construction got here late this afternoon, Dec. 6th, to assist us in the crane repair. This is one dedicated man, it is now pitch black dark outside and he is out there working with Mike from New Stone Age Builders.

After repair work was done to our parts at a specialty place in Robertsdale, Mike, Don and Ryan worked most of the day getting the heavy parts back in place. We are really fortunate to be having such mild and un-wintery weather for all this outdoor work.

LinkBelt Crane in use. Sunset on Gulf Coast-Little Lagoon

It was great to see the crane back in use today.

We have very short days right now, this photo was taken at 5 p.m. looking west across Little Lagoon.  A crane (animal type :o) was on the dock.

Magnum Building Materials Logo

We have been discussing Magnesium Oxide wall board with Dan Armstrong of Magnum Building Products. We think their imported Magnum® Board would be an ideal gypsum board alternative. We do not want to use any Sheetrock or gypsum board in this home. Recently introduced in the States,  this technologically advanced building material offers superior performance in every category when compared to traditional wood, gypsum and cement based products. We believe that our Magnum® Board will be an excellent investment. It will not collapse and dump moisture on all a room's furnishings as we have seen so many times on this coast. The Magnum® Board will simply dry out, all the while holding its shape and properties. Dan is studying our plans to determine which particular magnesium oxide board will be needed in each application... walls, ceilings, sub flooring. When building a hurricane proof home it is wise to consider substitutes for gypsum board. See all the info I have compiled on Magnesium Oxide building material suppliers.
