Prep for the Pouring of the 8" Slab

First thing was to bring in sand and pound it to make it the correct level. We didn't want any air pockets of course. Since we built up the area of the house we brought in extra sand. Where the garage door openings are located we had to put a minimum of 8 " vertical plywood forms where the openings will be. The forms were braced for strength. Before the rebar was installed, 4" concrete bricks were placed to hold the rebar in place exactly in the middle of the slab. Everywhere the rebar crosses, ties were added. The concrete was poured all in one day. It was so hot that the men were worried about the concrete setting up too fast so sprinklers were used non-stop for 3 or 4 days... the water bill was about 200 bucks.
